April 2021: New Website!

I'm working hard on this new website. Simplifying all design and just bringing text and images for your viewing pleasure. This site is minimal and fast. Instead of fancy layouts I'm choosing to serve higher quality images and a simple layout which will work for years and be easy maintain for the rest of my life.

It's new, so it's not all going to work well for a bit. I'm copying over all my old content but it's a slow and time consuming process, especially as I inevitably keep writting new and better descriptions and ruminations about my work.

My old site will remain archived here and if you need a fully featured website I suggest you puruse the site for a moment. I have to warn you that a recent wordpress update broke a lot of my layouts and so some things do not work as they once did anymore. Hence the new website you are viewing now.

Jeannie and I have launched a new project and I hope you will take a moment to join that site. Intentionally Confusing will be a repository for all our social media posting as well as the best and latest updates from our life working and creating in the wild.

This site will from now forward be the master archive of my work, my catalog raison if you will. I hope to have this new site finished by the end of April 2021, many words to write and pixels to polish but deadlines have to be kept.

Thank you for your interest in my work. I hope you find this site wonderful, evolving and entertaining.

Kyle Parker Cunningham

Visual artist and human being.

I work in diverse media and often in long series where each individual work layers on top of the rest. The inter-webs of the information revolution have fundamentally changed the way we experience reality. No longer linear it is constantly happening all around us, touching the individual from all corners of the globe.

But is it so new this layered existence. I wander often the wild corners of the American Southwest and I see evidence of layered, interconnected lives drawn upon the choicest rock walls and alcoves.

Working towards something far off and unknown and yet so so succinct.

The art falls spills from my mind like a full glass. It’s compulsive and I don’t always know what it means.

I try to capture as much of my mind as possible. This is not always possible – the mind is a complicated mess, but from the myriad creations a story can be teased.

My art is all interconnected. I’ve experimented extensively in how to display it, so that each piece interacts with those surrounding it. I think of my work as emojis, hieroglyphics, or the ancient cave art. It’s an expression of my whole world, thrown down, tangled up, rearranged and free form associated. It’s only through viewing it together do you find a sense of who I am as a person and what I experience in this world.

As a human in contemporary USA I’m recording my experience and the places my imagination travels to in order to find solace in this crazy time.
