Prickly Pear

Prickly pear pads filling the square edge to edge, olive green on warm ochre, each one outlined like a river stone. A still life of the most ordinary desert citizen — the one that feeds you, sticks you, and outlives you. Simple, mundane objects infuse our being whether we notice or not; this one I noticed.
