Oil on Gesso Panel · 6 3/8 by 36 3/8 · 2021

A nine-year painting. A tall, narrow column where big loose circles crowd the top and slowly resolve — band by band — into a small, orderly lattice of diamonds and dots at the bottom. I started it in 2012 and finished it in 2021, and the painting did what its name says in the meantime: the same shapes, refined by years of returning. The transition is mine as much as the geometry's.
