Surviving the Asteroid

Oil, Oil Stick, Acrylic, Latex on Canvas · 24 by 30 · 2022

The crocodilians have seen an extinction or two and kept walking. Here one stands upright on the rust-red ground, grinning the grin of a survivor: not the fastest or the smartest, just impossible to finish off. I think about survival a lot — who makes it through, and what they look like on the other side. This one made it through, and seems pleased about it.

Oil, Oil Stick, Acrylic and Latex on Canvas. 24 by 30 inches. Winter 2022.

Mixed-media painting of a whimsical upright crocodile-like creature with a long toothy snout, white body, and yellow claws, standing on a dark rust-colored ground against a muted pink background.
