Skull

2022

A skull in profile, hand colored a pale mineral green — the oldest still life subject there is. More curiosity than warning: this is the architecture under every portrait I've ever painted.

Intaglio drypoint prints. Printed area approx 6 x 9 inches. Handtorn paper approx 8 x 10 inches.

Based on an earlier 2015 oil painting of the same title (not yet documented here).

Intaglio drypoint print of a human skull in three-quarter profile view facing left, with detailed cross-hatching around the eye socket and jaw, hand-colored with subtle washes of pale green and blue-gray across the cranium.
